From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had discovered a place that belonged somewhere out west rather than in Minnesota. The bright blue quarry water against the massive granite cliffs creates incredible views around every corner.
One of our favorite things was simply walking the trails and stopping at different overlooks. The water is unbelievably clear, and on warm summer days you'll see people swimming, floating, and relaxing at the designated swimming quarry.
It's one of those places that looks even better in person than it does in photos.

Unlike traditional Minnesota lakes, Quarry Park features flooded granite quarries with crystal-clear water surrounded by dramatic rock formations. It offers a completely different experience than most parks in the state.

Dogs are welcome as long as they remain on a leash. Please note that pets are not allowed in the swimming quarry areas.

It depends on the age of your children.
Quarry Park is not one of the easiest parks for families with young children. Most of the swimming quarries require about a ¼-mile walk from the parking lot, so you'll likely be carrying beach gear, towels, and anything else you bring.
Other things to keep in mind:
Most swimming areas have deep water rather than shallow shoreline.
There are very few sandy beach areas for younger kids to play.
Shade and seating near the swimming areas are limited.
During the summer, you'll notice that many visitors are teenagers and young adults, especially around the popular cliff-jumping areas.
The park is better suited for confident swimmers and older children who enjoy hiking and exploring.
Families with toddlers or young children may find a traditional beach park with shallow water, nearby parking, and playgrounds to be a more relaxing option.
